Arthur D. Little and POLIS New Report on the future of mobility

Arthur D. Little and POLIS publish new report on the future of mobility

Arthur D. Little and POLIS joined forces to produce the new report, The future of mobility 5.0: Making the shifts – Changing gear in the journey toward sustainable Mobility.” This is the fifth report in a series of comprehensive reports on the future of mobility since Arthur D. Little (ADL) originally set up its Future of Mobility Lab in 2010.

In this 5th edition, you will explore eight potential solutions to double global sustainable mobility over the next decade:

  • Climate Change mitigation policies
  • City Of Proximity (15-minute city) concepts
  • Dimensioning of Mass Transit
  • New Mobility Services
  • Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS)
  • Autonomous Mobility
  • Mobility Demand Management
  • Mobility Funding

The report wants to show that, individually, none of the solutions impact more than 15%, showing the need for a coordinated, sustained approach to enable success. There is also a large gap between theory and practice – 81% of mobility leaders saw the eight solutions as important, but under 60% are confident in the current readiness of mobility systems to implement them, highlighting the need for system-level coordination and enablement to bridge this gap and turn potential into reality.

The report finds that adopting these eight high-impact solutions can transform the growth of virtuous mobility, potentially doubling the share of sustainable mobility in the modal split from approximately 30% to 60% of passenger kilometres (PAX) over the next decade.
