Welcome to our new Chairman, Christian Merkt

The CCAM Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Christian Merkt as the new CCAM Chair, succeeding Armin Gräter.
We extend our warmest welcome to Christian and look forward to working together under his leadership.

Christian Merkt was also recently appointed Director EU Governmental Affairs Digitalization and Automated Driving at BMW. He joined BMW in 1999 and has since held several positions, most recently Senior Expert Consumer Protection Vehicle Safety Asia, with a corresponding strategy for vehicle projects, including coordination of research for Passive and Active Safety projects. 

From 2011 to 2014, he represented the BMW GROUP Research and Innovation Center to EU Institutions and supported various initiatives in Electromobility, ITS, and Digitalization in the Automotive Sector. 

From 2006, Christian Merkt was a homologation engineer for the EU type approval of various BMW models and small-series electric vehicles. 

From 1999 to 2006, he worked at the BMW plant in Munich in Environmental Protection and Occupational Safety.
