AUGMENTED CCAM Releases New Planning and Decision-Making Tool for CCAM-Ready Infrastructure

As CCAMtechnologies move closer to large-scale deployment, public authorities and infrastructure managers face a critical challenge: how to make informed infrastructure investments today that will support the mobility systems of tomorrow.
To address this challenge, the AUGMENTED CCAM project has published a dedicated page for its CCAM-ready Infrastructure Planning & Decision-Making Tool, one of the project’s key exploitable results. Developed as part of Deliverable D6.7, the tool provides practical guidance for authorities, road operators, and infrastructure managers responsible for preparing Physical, Digital, and Communication Infrastructure (PDI) for the deployment of CCAM solutions.
The tool supports structured and risk-aware decision-making throughout the infrastructure planning process. Recognising the complexity of mobility transitions, it helps stakeholders assess needs, evaluate options, and identify appropriate actions while considering both current requirements and future developments in connected and automated mobility.
The framework is organised around six phases and twenty-four decision steps, covering the entire planning cycle. These steps guide users from the initial stages of policy alignment and infrastructure assessment through the design and deployment of measures, and ultimately towards monitoring, evaluation, continuous learning, and scaling.
Each decision step is accompanied by guiding questions, methodological support, and links to additional online resources, enabling users to navigate the planning process in a systematic and evidence-based manner. This approach helps organisations identify priorities, reduce uncertainty, and make investment decisions that support long-term mobility objectives.
By providing a practical and accessible planning framework, AUGMENTED CCAM contributes to ensuring that infrastructure development keeps pace with the rapid evolution of connected and automated mobility technologies. The tool represents a valuable resource for stakeholders working to create safer, smarter, and more resilient transport systems across Europe.
