CCAM Multicluster meeting back in Brussels
The CCAM Association members gathered once again on 22 November 2023 in Brussels. Over 120 individuals attended, and the level of participation continues to increase with each passing meeting.
The day’s programme was full on, with very interesting presentations and discussions.
To start with, we had the honour of being addressed by Jane Amilhat, the Head of the newly established Clean Transport Transitions Unit within the Clean Planet Directorate of DG RTD. After a short introduction and welcome from our Chairman Armin Gräter and our colleague from the European Commission (DG RTD), Andrea De Candido, our Vice-chairman Serge van Dam gave a very good overview of the potential impacts on the Horizon Europe programme from different events, such as the upcoming EU elections and the new framework programme preparations. The CCAM Partnership will need to take into consideration these challenges.
Representatives of some of the CCAM Partnership running projects: Vincenzo Punzo (i4Driving), Maria Pia Fanti (IN2CCAM), Victor Jimenez (SELFY), Giulia Renzi (SINFONICA), Guy Fournier (ULTIMO) offered to the participants their thoughts and expertise on crucial findings to-date and identification of research gaps in the CCAM field.
Professor Hironao Kawashima, representing Keio University (Japan), Mobility Culture Research Centre, offered an international perspective on CCAM thanks to highlighting initiatives relating to Japan’s next-generation ITS.
Concluding the initial segment of the agenda, the FAME project delivered a brief presentation regarding the current status of the Common Evaluation Methodology (CEM) they are developing. All CCAM projects were encouraged to get involved in the creation process and employ this methodology to assess CCAM impacts.
Next, two “Collaborative Idea Generation Workshops” took place, where the members were invited to share their first ideas and solutions on different proposed Work Programme (WP) 2025 topics. We must say that our members are not short of ideas, and Cluster Leaders did not have the easy task of presenting the summary of discussions right afterwards in front of everyone.
To close this intensive day, our three Chairmen did a “tour de table” of what to expect in 2025 and beyond. The focus will be pragmatic, with large-scale demonstrations at the heart of the WP. Deeper discussions will take place to choose the most promising mobility solutions.
