CCAM States Representatives Group (SRG) met in Poland

Societal acceptance of connected, cooperative and automated road mobility was high on the agenda of the CCAM States Representatives Group meeting held from 23-24 April in Gdańsk, Poland in the framework of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. How to actually measure societal acceptance of CCAM? What are the ethical attitudes of people to CCAM and to AI in vehicles? How to deal with Misleading Marketing? Those were just some of the questions answered on the first day.

The representatives of 17 EU Member States and countries associated with Horizon Europe met for the first time this year to better align national and EU funding in the field of CCAM and to discuss the way to move from CCAM research to deployment.

The meeting was organised in Gdańsk not by chance – it is the city where the first CCAM demonstration in Poland was organised back in 2019. At the occassion of this week’s gathering, the Polish stakeholders presented to the international audience their national projects and initiatives.

Very important was also the update and clarification from the European Commission side, following the Automotive Action Plan published at the beginning of March: what is currently happening in the CCAM field at the European level. Another highlight was the interactive mapping exercise of national CCAM platforms, programmes and strategies where all of the attendees shared their respective situations.

The representatives of France and the CCAM Partnership also raised awareness about CCAM activities aimed at local and regional authorities: the coalition of interest with the workshop on 27 June in Paris and the call for expression of interest open till 1 June.

Finally, the currently in definition, new EU Multiannual Financial Framework, and related to that next research programme, were also addressed.

The next CCAM SRG meeting will most probably be organised in autumn in Greece.
